Echo
A sonic companion for co-presence
Echo is a small companion device that reacts to the presence of its peers through sound. Released as three types — Shy, Messy and Bounce — each has its own temperament expressed through sonic identity. When alone, it remains quiet. As two or more devices share proximity, layered tones and shifting rhythms play in harmony, transforming physical proximity into a playful collective experience.
Over time, encounters leave traces within each companion. At the end of the day, Echo is placed on its station, where the day’s moments of co-presence are transferred into a digital interface — an evolving archive of sound memories displayed as audio-reactive visual landscapes.
Designed for transient social environments such as campuses, exhibitions, festivals and conferences, Echo proposes a model of social technology based on resonance, atmosphere and subtle awareness rather than constant communication and performative visibility.
